Common questions.

How is Spendkar different from other expense trackers?+
No ads, no data selling, no third-party trackers. Built for Indian banks (30+ supported), with UPI Ref-based deduplication so the same transaction never gets counted twice across SMS and PDF imports. Pay cycle awareness aligned to your salary date.
Does Spendkar connect to my bank?+
No. We never log into your bank or use account-aggregator APIs. You either paste an SMS or upload a PDF statement — both are processed entirely on our servers without ever talking to the bank.
Is my data safe?+
Yes. All transit is HTTPS. Passwords are bcrypt-hashed. Database is isolated per user. We don’t store PDF files (parsed in memory and deleted), full account numbers, or your PDF passwords.
What if my bank’s SMS format isn’t recognised?+
We support 30+ Indian banks out of the box. If yours isn’t recognised, email us the SMS template (with personal details redacted) and we’ll add it within a few days.
Can I delete all my data?+
Anytime. Settings → Delete Account inside the app removes your user record and cascades to all transactions, accounts, budgets. Compliant with India’s DPDP Act 2023.
When is the iOS version coming?+
Android first (in beta now). iOS is planned but timing depends on beta feedback. Sign up for beta and you’ll get an email when iOS opens up.
Is Spendkar free?+
Free during beta. Future plans may include a small paid tier for advanced AI features. Core tracking will stay free.
How do I report a bug?+
Email support@spendkar.com or use the in-app feedback option once it ships. Beta testers get a direct WhatsApp line for urgent issues.
